ATCHAYA :

As part of Pongal celebrations, Cheyyar Punnagaipaalam tuition center children are provided with diaries and notebooks. 

  • 60 diaries are given to tuition center children and 25 diaries are given to Sabarmathi students, 50 children in primary section are also provided with small notebook as a gift from Smile. 
  • 50 students of Arungarai amman trust high school children from Udumalaipettai were also provided diaries and notebooks, 44 diaries are distributed to PDC participants of Perumbakkam and 8 diaries to placement cell students. These diaries are sponsored by a corporate donor. 
  • The donor has donated 700 diaries and all these diaries were distributed in batches in different locations during this year.  

 

NETWORKING :

Smile Welfare Foundation has established partnership with two associations and an university during January and February 2025. These partnerships will strengthen mutual support to in addressing the needy and poor students. Smile will be implementing PDC sessions in partnership with these associations.

  • Association of former foster Children from Coimbatore. AFFC provided school level scholarship to orphan children in and around Coimbatore. Smile will be facilitating PDC in CBE on 2nd March 2025.
  • Uyir foundation from Uthiramerur of Chengalpattu district. Smile is exploring the possibility of conducting PDC in Uthiramerur.
  • Allagappa University: As a major progress in Smile’s networking initiative, Smile and Allagappa University, Karaikudi will be jointly addressing the rural schools of Karaikudi region from the next academic year. A mutual understating was made in the meeting with Dr. Padmapriya, Special officer – Planning and Development, Alagappa university at the university office.
SHIKSHA (Personality Development Classes) :

PDC – Perumbakkam: Personality Development Classes of Smile Welfare Foundation resumed after a gap in post pandemic era at Perumbakkam on 23rd February 2025. 

  • PDC session is organized in Ozone Green Indiabulls residential community in Perumabakkam Chennai. This is initiated by Bama for the children of maids in the community. 
  • 32 children attended the events among them 13 of them are 12th standard students. 
  • Five of our Sadhana alumni served as volunteer in PDC and 3 post graduate psychology students facilitated psychometric test to the students. The session was an eye opener for the students and also gave encouragement to Smile members to organize more sessions in the future.
  • All the Children are gifted witht a water bottle and notebook. A maid from the community who’s daughter is Smile’s Sadhana beneficiary has donated pen to all the students.
  • Earlier on 11th and 12th of Feb MCC intern and our Sadhana student condcuted campaing for PDC in the community and registed students for the programme.
