As part of the Atchaya project implementation, we visited the Orakattupettai Government Higher Secondary School in Kanchipuram district today (formerly known as Mamandur School HM’s school).
The school has 7 Sintex tanks and an overhead tank (OHT). However, the existing bore wells need to be deepened and repaired, as they have poor water yield and require desilting. The school also has an agricultural group, which needs water for practical sessions.
The boys’ toilet requires repairs and roofing. While the school has previously received some CSR funds, there is still a need for further support.
Additionally, another school could be considered for the Atchaya project in 2025.
Smile operates three PP tuition centres in Cheyyar, with a total of 110 children and 6 tuition teachers.
The children from Punnagai Paalam achieved excellent results in their 10th-grade exams held in April 2025:
Smile recognized and honored these students to celebrate their achievements, while also motivating and inspiring other children.
