August 2024 marked a major growth in SMILE’s social media reach, achieving 3.1K followers with a 36.4% increase in engagement. This expanded online presence is helping SMILE connect with a wider audience, spreading awareness about our projects and drawing in new supporters. Regular updates and success stories are shared to keep the community informed and engaged with our ongoing work.
In September, SMILE launched a sponsorship appeal to support 31 students in Sadhana batches 23 and 24. The response was heartwarming, with all students fully sponsored within a week, thanks to the generosity of SMILE’s community. This support ensures that students receive the financial assistance needed for their education, helping them stay focused on their academic journey. Initial funding for a few students had already been distributed in July, securing a strong start for their studies.
On August 30, 2024, SMILE completed its DARPAN registration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, a key step toward obtaining approval under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). This milestone will allow SMILE to receive international contributions, expanding our capacity to fund projects that uplift underprivileged students. FCRA approval will enable us to sustain and grow impactful programs, making education accessible to more students in need.
As part of SMILE’s anniversary celebrations, the second edition of Punnagai Paalam Vazhkatti was officially launched. This revised edition, with 1,000 copies printed, serves as an inspirational guide for students, focusing on character-building and personal growth. The book’s release aligns with the upcoming rollout of the second phase of our Personality Development Course (PDC), which aims to support students in developing essential life skills and confidence. SMILE’s goal is to reach even more students in the coming months through this initiative.
