This Deepavali, we brought joy to 170 students at the Sri Arungariannan Nallathai Education Trust. SMILE provided them with brand-new clothes for the festive season. Their bright smiles made the celebration unforgettable! Our team also plans to explore long-term project collaborations in the Udumalaipet area to extend our reach and impact.
The children at Punnagai Palam tuition centers are gearing up for SMILE’s 20th anniversary. Their preparations include dance, speech, and fancy dress competitions. To encourage their enthusiasm, we distributed small toys, pencil boxes, and candies to over 100 students during their classes. These gestures of love inspire them to stay motivated in their studies and regular attendance.
On October 6th, the Vellore Government Home for Girls hosted a heartfelt alumni meet. SMILE’s Sadhana alumni, led by Bhuvaneswari, organized the event. The day included the distribution of notebooks, stationery, and refreshments for 70 children. Alumni prepared a delicious biryani meal, and with the help of Srinivasan, a SMILE trustee, 70 diaries were also distributed. It was a beautiful day of connections and shared memories.
The Sadhana initiative continues to grow, students are actively enrolled and supported by 30 dedicated donors. This year, SMILE onboarded 10 new donors, ensuring brighter futures for these students.
In collaboration with the Sathya Sai Trust, SMILE is providing graduate students with basic and spoken English skills. Of the 14 enrolled students, three have already advanced to the next level, showcasing the program’s success and their determination to learn.
October also brought a memorable gathering at the Spastics Society in Chennai, where we celebrated 20 years of Smile Welfare Foundation. From cultural performances to scholarship recipients meeting their donors, the auditorium was filled with joy and gratitude. The event reinforced the bonds between SMILE members, donors, and students, making it a day to cherish.
