Flood Relief:
As part of flood relief measures 1400 notebooks are distributed to 600 school going students from North Chennai on 23 January 2024 at Thiruvetriyur. Smile in the faces of the children while receiving the notebooks reflected their Joy and Happiness.
Notebook distribution:
A private agency has gifted 700 notebook diaries and pens; it was distributed to students of Vambakkam & Mamandur Hr. Sec school on 13th February 2024.
CSR-1 Registration:
Smile Welfare Foundation was officially registered with ministry of corporate affairs – New Delhi to undertake CSR activities on 04 March 2024.
NSNOP Registration:
Smile welfare foundation wad registered with NSNOP – Namma School Namma Ooru Palli foundation of Govt of Tamilnadu. This is a registration for NGOs to take up development activities in TN government schools. This is our second registration and recognition for Smile from the government during march 2024.
English Coaching Registration:
An MoU signed between Smile & Sri Sathya Sai trust. 15 students from our placement training cell are enrolled with Sri Sathya Sai Vidyahini’s 6 months English online coaching session on 04 April 2024.
WASH Initiatives:
Atchaya – WASH project for Mamandur and Vembakkam schools are approved by Government of Tamilnadu on 18th April 2024 with the official nod from the Secretary of Education department and the district collector. Project implementation started on 24th April 2024.
Sadhana 24:
24 students are selected for Sadhana scholarship from 98 applicants including a student of medicine. Counselling held from 5th to 30th May 2024. For Sadhana 2023 & Sadhana 2024, Smile volunteer team has identified donors for all the students.
Atchaya – WASH
WASH project for Mamandur and Vembakkam schools are accomplished on 30th June 2024.
1586 students including 1066 girl children are benefited from the project. This project has provided safe drining water and protected sanitation facility to the schools.
PDC II Edition
Punnagai Paalam’s Vazhikatti (PDC book) sections are revised based on the recent changes in the exam patterns and post pandemic scenario. The new version comprises of 105 pages. PDC session will be rolled out in schools.
Independence Day Celebrations:
As part of Punnagai Paalam tuition centres and Sabarmathi Gurukulam, Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2024 at Sabarmathi Gurukulam. Children perfomed cultural events. We have around 100 children in 3 Punnagaipalam tuition centres in Cheyyar.
Darpan:
A step towards applying for FCRA. Darpan registration was done with ministry of home affaires on 30th August 2024.
Smile Metrics:
As part of Metrics, beginning from 2004, data related to volunteers, sponsors, donors were collated from various sources and documents shared earlier. Smile has evidence based data now for last 20 years from 2004 to 2024.
Smile 20th Anniversary:
Smile’s 20th anniversary held on 02 October 2024. A colourful, joyful, jubilant event marked by the representation from IIT Madras and govt of TN. 300 alumni, students and families were part of the celebrations.
Laptop Distribution:
14 laptops were distributed to students at Directorate of School Education, in the presence of Mr. Sudhan IAS, Secretary, School Education on 14th Nov 2024. All the students are from Govt. schools of Tamilnadu, who are enrolled in central univerties across the nation. They are first graduates from the family and supported by Govt of TN to continue their studies
Diary Distribution:
A corporate agency donor Mr. Dharanirajan & Mrs. Gayathiri has donated 700 diaries to distribute among school children in our target areas. 350 diaries are distrbuted to school children from Tiruvetryur and 70 diaries to Kaatpadi Govt Home children.
